CURRICULUMS
Joaquim Carol Bruguera

Born in La Bisbal d'Empordà in 1980.

Technician in the Biodiversity Department.

He holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Girona with the thesis "Ecology of an invasive fish (Silurus glanis) in Catalan reservoirs". He joined the Minuartia team in 2007.

He has extensive experience in undertaking studies of fish in all types of inland waters (rivers, reservoirs and wetlands) using various sampling methods, such as electric fishing, nets, telemetry, and echo sounding. The studies have focused on characterising fish farm populations, and on analysing and assessing the impact of exotic species. He has also collaborated on several research projects based on studying the biology and ecology of inland fish.

Since joining the Minuartia team, he has undertaken projects on the aquatic environment, including monitoring populations of amphibians in natural spaces, rescuing fish and Unio aleroni from different bodies of water, and drawing up environmental reports on the effects of specific projects on river areas.

He has participated in studies to analyse ecological connectivity and to define measures that correct and compensate for the impact of dual carriageways, high speed railways, canals, etc., as well as studies to monitor the use of fauna passages in various infrastructures.
